An Evening With Gary Lineker

It's early July 1990, the evening of England's famous World Cup semi final against Germany during Italia '90, and Monica and Bill are on holiday in Majorca trying to rebuild their failing relationship.

She dreams of an affair with England's star striker Gary Lineker while Bill hopes the same man will propel England to the World Cup final. The play opens shortly before the match kicks off and Monica and Bill are joined in their apartment by Ian, Bill's friend tolerated by Monica, and Birgitta - a German woman Ian has got to know - and finally Dan; publisher Bill's star writing client and (unbeknown to him) having an affair with Monica.

Tensions rise in more ways than one as secrets spill out amongst those watching the match as it reaches its cliff hanging conclusion.
