The Quay management have taken steps to control the theatre car park in order to combat parking from non-theatre users. The new car parking conditions are as follows (taken from their recent social media postings and an email circulated to SDS) and are in place NOW:
- To try to improve the car parking situation at the theatre, we have taken the decision to hand management of the theatre car park to a third party company.
- Parking will of course remain free to all customers and users at the theatre, but there will now be a check-in system for all vehicles and a fine system in place for anyone parking and not using the theatre or the Jetty.
- There is a tablet at the Box Office and in the main hall of the Jetty studio. These can be used to enter the registration number of any cars parked in the theatre car park. There will also be notices around the theatre and Jetty with a QR code that takes people to a page where they can also enter their registration number after scanning on their phones.
- There is a 15 minute 'grace' period to allow dropping off/collection - eg parents taking children to/from reharsals in the theatre or Jetty etc.
- This only applies to the main theatre car park immediately in front of the building and NOT the overflow or Granary car parks.
- It will be in operation AT ALL TIMES.
- The theatre will have no authority over fines raised to wrongly parked vehicles and any appeals must be lodged with the company (details on all signage).
- The theatre has paid nothing for, and will receive no revenue from, this arrangement. It is designed to hopefully improve parking for all customers and users going forward.
- The system is NOW OPERATIONAL.
