Productions 2026

Our 2026 season so far consists of the following productions. More key dates (auditions, tickets on sale etc) will be added once known.

September 8th - 12th

Bedroom Farce

by Alan Ayckbourn

director: Susana Concheso

A classic Alan Ayckbourn hit play, this high-energy comedy sees this hugely popular playwright exploring the ups and downs of four marriages over the course of one endless Saturday night. Trevor and Susannah, whose marriage is on the rocks, inflict their miseries on three other couples to hilarious effect. Taking place sequentially in the three beleaguered couples’ bedrooms during one endless Saturday night of co-dependence and dysfunction, Bedroom Farce ruffles beds, tempers and domestic order leading everyone concerned to a hilariously touching epiphany.

Ayckbourn skillfully manipulates farce and claustrophobia, time and space to create a super evening of theatrical entertainment.

Underdog: The Other Other Brontë

by Sarah Gordon

directed by Helen Arbon

Charlotte Brontë has a confession about how one sister became an idol, and the other became known as the third sister. You know the one. No, not that one. The other, other one… Anne.

This is not a story about well-behaved women. This is a story about the power of words. It’s about sisters and sisterhood, love and jealousy, support and competition.

This fresh, new play first performed in 2024 is an irreverent retelling of the life and legend of the Brontë sisters, and the story of the sibling power dynamics that shaped their uneven rise to fame performed in the suitably atmospheric surroundings of Sudbury Arts Centre.

Pantomime

December 11th - 24th (various eves and matinees)

Aladdin

by Andy Gribben

directed by Malcolm Hollister, Lorna Hollister & Clare Viccars

Wash away all your cares this Christmas with a visit to Widow Twankey’s laundry. Just don’t expect your clothes to come back ironed - or at all. This year’s community pantomime, staged by Sudbury Dramatic Society at the Quay theatre, is the classic story of the boy with the magic lamp.

Aladdin gets put in a spin by his madcap mum, a pretty princess, incompetent policemen, a wicked baddie and a full load of magic. But as usual, everything turns out well in the end.

Get the family aboard your magic carpet and join us for this traditional pantomime: evening performances are at 7.30pm most weekdays and at 11.00am and 3.00pm for matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays up to Christmas eve.

AUDITION - MONDAY 27TH JULY
